Diamonds, Compactness, and Measure Sequences
We establish the consistency of the failure of the diamond principle on a cardinal κ which satisfies a strong simultaneous reflection property. The result is based on an analysis of Radin forcing, and further leads to a characterization of weak compactness of κ in a Radin generic extension.
متن کاملNew operators through measure of non-compactness
In this article, we use two concepts, measure of non-compactness and Meir-Keeler condensing operators. The measure of non-compactness has been applied for existence of solution nonlinear integral equations, ordinary differential equations and system of differential equations in the case of finite and infinite dimensions by some authors. Also Meir-Keeler condensing operators are shown in some pa...
متن کاملMeasure of Similarity and Compactness in Competitive Space
The given work is devoted to measures of similarity which are used at discovering of empirical regularities (knowledge). The function of competitive (rival) similarity (FRiS) is proposed as a similarity measure for classification and pattern recognition applications. This function allows one to design effective algorithms for solving all basic data mining tasks, obtain quantitative estimates of...
متن کاملAn Eeective Image Thresholding Method Using a Fuzzy Compactness Measure
This paper presents an improved method for image thresholding by optimization of fuzzy compactness which was originally introduced by Pal and Rosenfeld 3]. In our method a set of asymmetric S-functions whose windows are located in the same range are used as membership functions for obtaining fuzzy compact-ness. This avoids the problem which may occur in the original algorithm by unsuitably choo...
متن کاملThe Measure of Non-compactness of a Disjointness Preserving Operator
Let E and F be Banach lattices and assume E∗ has no atoms. Let T : E → F be a norm bounded disjointness preserving operator from E into F . Then β(T ) = α(T ) = ‖T‖e = ‖T‖.
